Experience sudden toothache? Seize the golden treatment time and get immediate relief

Home Dental understands the torment caused by sudden toothache. Timely diagnosis and treatment of toothache are crucial to alleviate your pain and prevent the problem from worsening.

Did you know that toothache also has a golden treatment time? The sooner the toothache problem is treated, the faster the recovery will be, and the lower the risk of complications.

What can Home Dental offer?

Home Dental offers same-day dental emergency services to provide you with professional diagnosis and relief within the golden treatment time. The following symptoms may indicate an emergency toothache problem:

  • Severe toothache that affects sleep and daily life
  • Extreme sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures
  • Swollen and painful gums, accompanied by fever or other systemic symptoms
  • Broken or cracked teeth
  • Sudden feeling of loose teeth
  • Loose dentures causing difficulty in eating

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please do not delay seeking medical attention. We reserve a limited number of dental emergency slots each day to ensure you receive professional dental care from your Hong Kong Emergency Dentists on the same day (on-duty 7 days a week, including Sunday or most public holiday).

FAQs

Why should I consider a larger dental centre for emergency dental treatments?

Larger dental centres have a diverse team of dentists who specialize in various dental disciplines such as oral surgery, orthodontics, restorative dentistry, endodontics, periodontics, and pediatric dentistry. This diversity ensures comprehensive care and timely diagnosis of your dental issue without the need for external referrals, expediting the treatment process and better addressing your emergency dental needs.

What payment options do you accept for emergency dental services?

We accept various payment methods, including cash, credit cards, WeChat Pay, etc. For those with insurance, it is advisable to check with the clinic regarding specific coverage details before your visit.

How long can I expect to wait for my emergency dental treatment?

The wait time can vary depending on the urgency of your situation and the number of patients at the clinic. We strive to address emergencies promptly, typically making every effort to see you as soon as possible.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I really see a dentist the same day I call?

Yes. We keep emergency slots available every day across our three clinics in Causeway Bay, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Tsuen Wan. WhatsApp us at +852 5402 6630 as soon as the problem starts and our team will arrange the earliest available appointment, often the same day.

  • What counts as a dental emergency?

Severe toothache, knocked-out or broken teeth, uncontrolled bleeding, swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, and abscesses all need urgent care. If you're unsure whether your situation is urgent, message us and we'll help you decide whether to come in immediately or book a routine slot.

  • How much does an emergency visit cost?

Emergency consultation and initial treatment typically range from HK$800 to HK$3,000, depending on the complexity and whether X-rays or immediate procedures are needed. We'll explain costs before starting any work. Most major dental insurance plans cover emergency visits — WhatsApp us to confirm your coverage.

  • What happens during an emergency appointment?

The dentist will assess the problem, take X-rays if needed, and provide immediate relief — this might be draining an abscess, stabilising a broken tooth, or prescribing antibiotics. The appointment usually takes 30 to 60 minutes. If further treatment is needed, we'll book a follow-up and explain the plan clearly.

  • Will emergency treatment hurt?

We use local anaesthetic to numb the area before any procedure, so you shouldn't feel pain during treatment. Some discomfort or sensitivity afterwards is normal and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. If you're anxious about pain, let us know when you book — we can discuss sedation options at our Tsuen Wan clinic.

  • What should I do if a tooth gets knocked out?

Pick up the tooth by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently with water if it's dirty, and try to place it back in the socket if possible. If that's not possible, keep it in milk or saliva and come to the clinic immediately. The sooner we see you, the better the chance of saving the tooth.

  • Do you offer emergency care outside normal clinic hours?

Our clinics operate extended hours on weekdays and are open on Saturdays. For urgent cases outside these hours, WhatsApp us at +852 5402 6630 and we'll guide you on the best course of action, which may include arranging an early-morning appointment or directing you to hospital emergency services if needed.
